When was the last time you have done something for the first time? The United Arab Emirates is like nowhere else on earth. Made up of seven Emirates, the UAE is an ever changing country that is both glamorous and extraordinary. Here the modern metropolises of the Emirates contrast with the traditional Bedouin way of life in the desert.  Luxury experiences come aplenty in the UAE.

There is a lot more to the UAE than meets the eye. A popular destination for travelers from all over the world, there are luxury experiences to suit everyone. The UAE is dominated by the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai but beyond these cities await a diverse montage of five more emirates, each with its own character and allure.

Dubai, the second largest emirate, is the city of iconic skyscrapers, palm-shaped islands, city-sized malls, palatial beach resorts and pockets of traditional architecture from tea houses to wind towers.

Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital and the largest emirate, is a cultural destination with plans to open a Louvre and Guggenheim in the near future.

After the UAE make your way to the Musandam Peninsula located on the northern tip of Oman, dubbed the ‘Norway of Arabia’ for it’s dramatic scenery, stunning fjords and small fishing villages. These villages are habituated by the region’s semi-nomadic Shihuh tribe who make a living farming goats, terraced fields and fishing, whilst retaining a very traditional lifestyle.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

Rising majestically from beautifully manicured gardens, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a masterpiece of modern Islamic architecture and design.  With more than 80 marble domes on a roofline, the mosque is a vision in pure white Greek and Macedonian marble. While it includes references to Mamluk, Ottoman and Fatimid styles, the overwhelming impression of the breath-taking interior is contemporary and innovative, with three chandeliers filling the main prayer hall. The chandeliers, sparkle with Swarovski crystals and shine with 24-carat galvanised gold. One of the prayer hall’s most impressive features is the world’s largest loomed carpet. The medallion design with elaborate arabesque motifs took 1200 craftsmen two years to complete.

What is a tailored itinerary and what makes a tailored itinerary stand out from the crowd? As a Seawings Lifestyle Ambassador I create  tailored itineraries for guests on a daily basis. I make it my priority that every detail is taken into consideration to ensure that the client gets what is expected in terms of a unique experience, tailor-made to his or her requirements and offering good value for money.

4 criteria for preparing a tailored itinerary

The 4 critical criteria I keep in mind when preparing a tailored itinerary are the following:

  1. Build a personal rapport with the client – talking directly to my guest allows me to not only understand all the requirements of the specific request but also to know the guest’s personal preferences and interests. By building such a relationship my ultimate goal is to learn more from the guest which in turn allows me to provide a completely bespoke itinerary.
  2. Ask specific questions – understanding what the ideal holiday is in my client’s perspective is a key element.  Within the UAE for example guests come to explore the culture and heritage or the architecture of our iconic and world renowned buildings or to relax at some of the most luxurious resorts in the world. Perhaps even all of the above!
  3. Product and destination knowledge – knowing the destination/s I am selling and options available is not only very important to me as a travel consultant but even more so to my guest. Making suggestions, sharing new information of exciting projects and trending news allows me to always have my fingers on the pulse and give true and accurate information.
  4. Going the extra mile – enquiring about details such as special occasions, member of the party and even if they have visited the destination before are important in order for me to really start to understand the request. I ask many questions as I believe that in the eyes of a travel consultant, you can never have enough information and by doing so I am showing my interest in the guest, confirming the belief that I have their best interests in mind.

Originally working in the hospitality industry in South Africa, I only got to meet the guests upon arrival in the resort.  Working within the Seawings Lifestyle team now allows me to be part of the ever vital process of making those special arrangements and share their delight and excitement of that dream holiday.

I always try to keep in mind that guests don’t only buy the packages I am selling, but they also buy into me!

Recognized globally for its world class event infrastructure and backed by the Arabian culture and tradition of warmly welcoming and hosting guests, over the years Dubai has become one of the premiere destinations for incentive groups.   Many incentive organizers use the city’s meteoric rise from a small trading post into a leading modern metropolis as an inspiration for employees to reach for new heights.  The city has a unique ability to pull stakeholders together to deliver seamless experiences and make the impossible happen with numerous groups over the years receiving attention from the highest levels, including the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who personally visited incentive groups while on tour on several occasions in the past.

The 4 reasons for which Dubai is an ideal incentive group destination are:

  1. Connectivity

Dubai demonstrates the power of connections. The city is home to the busiest hub airport in the world and also one of the leading airlines.  One-third of the global population lives within a four-hour flight and two-thirds within an eight-hour flight. People of 200 different nationalities meet, work together and form friendships every day and 70% of Fortune 500 companies have their regional base in the city.

  1. Accommodation Options

The soft opening of The Westin Dubai, Al Habtoor City in October marked the city’s milestone achievement of reaching 100,000 rooms across its expanding hotel room and apartment inventory.  Numerous properties have been developed with group business in mind and the range of available hotels ensures that all budgets are catered for without compromising on quality and facilities.

  1. Activities

The city offers a mix of amazing local sites, gala dinner venues and opportunities for unique, fun activities.  In the same day, an incentive group can visit the world’s tallest building, have lunch in the world’s only 7* hotel, enjoy the thrills of a unique water take-off and landing and unique aerial views of the world’s largest man-made archipelago from a seaplane and dune bash in the desert, finishing off with a 5* Arabian dinner within the walls of a traditional fort in the desert.

  1. Unique destination

One of Dubai’s unique attractions is its ability to bring together in one location the comforts and amenities of the western world and the aura and charm of Arabia.  Some of the world’s most luxurious hotels and the glitzy shopping malls share the city with the bustling souks and the majestic desert., Dubai has the right mix to offer an incentive travel planner an ideal solution, an exotic destination with a cosmopolitan lifestyle.
